Oleg Poliansky (Piano)

Oleg Poliansky was born in Kiev, Ukraine, in 1968.

He is prize winner of many international competitions, first of all of the international `Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow` (Russia) in 1998. In addition to that, he won prizes in Tokyo (Japan) in 1986, in Montreal (Canada) in 1988, at `The international Duo Competition in memoriam of Christian Ferras and Pierre Barbìzet in Marseille (France) in 1997, at the `World Pianno Competition`in Cincinnati (USA) in 1999 as well as at `Citta di Cantu (Italy) in 1998 and 2003.

In the course of his career, Mr. Poliansky has made appearance at the largest international concert arenas and given concerts as a soloist with renomated orchestras such as, e.g., The Moscow Soloists, The Moscow Sympony Orchestra, The National Symphony of Ukraine, The Novosibirsk Sympony Orchestra, the Urals Symphony Orchestra Yekaterinburg, Budapest Strings; Neue Philarmonie Westfallen, Sinfonietta Hungarica, Junge Philarmonie Köln, The National Orchestra of Malta and The KBS National Radio Orchestra of Korea.

Oleg Poliansky looks forward into the future, remembering his numerous solo recitals, highly acclaimed by public and music critics; he has been a regular guest at international festivals, such as, for example, Klavierfestival Ruhr, Rheingau Music Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, The New Generation (Dortmund), Europaisches Klassikfestival Ruhr, Festival du Vigan, la Grange de Meslay, La Folle Journee (Nantes), Great Waterburry Summer Music Festival (Connecticut), and many others.

Oleg Poliansky is also a prolific chamber musician. Many famous artists, such as, for example, Pavel Gililov, Henry Sigfridsson, Pierre Amoyal,Mayuko Kamio , Mayu Kishima, Sayaka Shoji, Michail Ovrutsky, Natasha Korsakova, Erik Schumann, Leticia Munoz-Moreno, Boris Pergamenschikov (deceased), Kirill Rodin, Lazslo Fenyo, Tatyana Vassilieva and Dmitri Sitkovetski, think highly of him as a reliable piano partner.

He has produced numerous recordings for different Russian and German broadcasting companies, so he played, e.g., the Grande Sonate of Tchaikovsky and, with Michail Ovrutsky, the 1st violin sonate of Mieczyslav Weinberg for the German broadcasting company WDR. He recorded a Duo-CD with cellist Lazslo Fenyo for Aulos Records.

Oleg Poliansky started to study the piano at the Lysenko Music School in Kiev, where his teachers were Natalia Gridneva and Natalia Tolpygo. Simultaneously, he also studied violoncello from the 1st through 8th class at the same school with Galina Grishenko.

To his teachers belong three well-known personalities: Alexandr Alexandrov at the Gnessin Institute in Moscow, Sergei Dorensky at the Moscow Conservatory and Pavel Gililov at the Musikhochschule Köln. Oleg Poliansky has been living in Köln as well since 1993 and holds the academic position of Associate Professor for Major Piano at Hochshule für Musik Köln since 2007.
